How to enrol your child at Bega Preschool

Phone or email us for an enrolment form. Complete the enrolment form and return to us along with copies of your child's Birth Certificate and current Immunisation History statement. If you hold a Pension card or Health Care card issued through Centrelink we will also need a copy of that.

With these details we will place your child on the waiting list or discuss with you the possibility of placement.

If your child has any medical conditions (eg: asthma) we will need their Asthma Management Plan from your GP and once enrolled we will need their labelled medication.

Children can attend preschool from the age of 3 years old.

PLEASE NOTE - Priority of Access Guidelines:

The Dept. of Education stipulates priority of access guidelines for preschools. These guidelines mean that we must give priority to:

  • Children who turn 4 by the 31st July of the current preschool year - meaning they are eligible to attend school the following year.

  • Children from low income families (Holding a Low Income Health Care card)

  • Children from an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background

  • Children with Additional Needs

  • Children from families whose primary language is not English.

Once we have received all of the mandatory enrolment paperwork we will then contact you when a place is available.

Classes for the following year are allocated between August and October of the year prior to your child attending preschool.

All children are offered a 2-day program for their child. Once your child is offered a place and you accept this place, we ask you to pay a non-refundable deposit of $50.00.

HOW MUCH DOES PRESCHOOL COST?

In 2023 the NSW Government provided fee relief to families through the Start Strong Affordable Preschool initiative as part of the Early Years Commitment and this is continuing in 2024.

Start Strong Free Preschool was designed to support families with cost-of-living pressures through the delivery of free preschool for 600 hours per year (the equivalent of 2 days per week) in the two years before school. Funding was provided to community and mobile preschools for eligible children aged 3 years and above. In turn, services are required to provide at least 600 hours of fee-free preschool per year for families. This is approximately 15 hours or 2 days per week in most preschool settings.

To access this fee relief, we need families to complete a Fee Relief declaration form indicating they wish to access this funding through Bega Preschool.

The daily fee for families not accessing Fee Relief through Bega Preschool is $52.75. As all children attend a 2-day program, the weekly fee amount would be $105.50.

The daily fee for equity families (low income and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descendants) is $26.50, the weekly amount being $53.00.
